Library Land...doesn't it sound like a theme park? ^__~

So, I still have a job, albeit reduced hours. I'm happy because I still have health insurance and some benefits like before. Though, my hours are cut in half. I'm going from basically 40 hours a week to 21, so I'll be looking for something part-time once my schedule settles into a rhythm.

I'll be doing some programs, Tiny Toddler Story Time (ages 1-2) at AUD on Friday mornings. This will be interesting because I haven't really worked with this age group, but I've gotten some good tips. I'll also be doing some After School programs at EGG on Wednesday afternoons (Lego Club, Chocolate Olympics, Dr. Seuss Birthday Party, Star Wars Jedi Training, and Pirate Lessons). I'm also planning/coordinating family fun nights for EGG. I'm also doing some preschool specials at AUD (Valentine Princes & Princesses, Dr. Seuss, Bob the Builder, Kung Fu Panda, and Cars).

I've prepared for these programs while I've had my normal hours, but after February 1st the reduced hours go into effect.

I went to the Librarian's Association (my union) meeting on Friday. It's a sad thing when you find out that the Library Board is appointed by the county legislator, who isn't exactly supportive of the library. We also talked about some public relations incentives. Also, since the President of the Association asked me, I volunteered for the Librarian's Association recording secretary position. I got the blessing for the position from my colleagues.

On Saturday after work I attended a fellow librarian's retirement dinner (Mary 0). She hired me almost ten years ago as a shelving page and by retiring...she saved my librarian position.

It was a nice dinner and I chatted with a few librarians, who were giving me good wedding planning tips.
